EAST AFRICAN MODEL UNITED NATIONS 2024

We’ve got some really exciting news to share about our secondary students who are currently participating in the EAST AFRICAN MODEL UNITED NATIONS conference in Nairobi, Kenya

Our students had an absolutely amazing first day at the conference. They had plenty of opportunities to speak and debate, and they did an incredible job! In the Ecology committee, Caren presented our resolution, with Maya following up with an amendment. Ishika also supported the resolution, and although it wasn’t passed, our students made us so proud!

In the Historical Decisions Committee (HDC), Mwayi delivered an opening statement, and Fatima represented Canada in a case against Syria in the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Abby also had a chance to speak on the Human Rights Committee.

Despite some initial nerves, our students settled into the rhythm of the EAMUN debate and showed their enthusiasm on day two as well. Fatima concluded her debate against Syria and Tamanda prepared the closing statement for the opposition on the use of fossil fuels in African nations.

We are so impressed by our students’ resilience and their ability to stand out in warmth, professionalism, kindness, and maturity among other local and international schools. We can’t wait to share more updates with you all as the conference continues!
