Mission and Aims

We are a diverse and welcoming community in a joyful learning environment that promotes well-being, sustainability, and inclusivity and celebrates growth as success.

Who We Are

Diverse

This is not only how our community self-identifies but should drive our hiring practices, our curriculum content, i.e. authors, scientists, artists, and may initiate scholarship programs.

Inclusive

Academic inclusivity

High school pathways, classroom differentiation, learning support, growth as success – all programs that ensure everyone is considered for all academic learning experiences.

Social inclusivity

We promote the active acceptance and awareness of a diversity of beliefs, equality in gender, class, race, etc.

Sustainable

This should drive our increasingly high standards in service. The focus will be on student awareness and action in environmental stewardship. As staff/leadership we should strive to both emulate and drive student awareness and action.

The school must be sustainable in its programmes, in its finances, in its environmental impact. As staff we are stewards of the school and we have a responsibility to care for it and to ensure the school will be around for the next generations.

Joyful

Joyful is a directional word that asks for intentional teaching practices that push engaging and dynamic teaching and learning. Students are encouraged to engage in various learning experiences. “Joyful” promotes a positive relationship with learning. Students learn more when they laugh and smile at school, when they want to come to school and to finish projects at home. We do this, but want to focus on it in the future in planning lessons and in planning activities outside the classroom.
